Anthony won on time in a hopeless position. The game was very interesting, featuring an amazing comeback from the Singaporean player in a piece down ending, only to succumb to a cruel twist of fate. Never mind we'll gratefully take the W because it's all we got out of this match. John (who didn't get much luck with colours) had another French ending with a bad bishop, although this time it was actually the dark squared bishop. How did that happen? Anyway, this time in time pressure he started leaking pawns. Emily's opponent gradually took control from the Black side of a symmetrical opening. Yolanda's opponent got an early grip and never let go, Yolanda fought hard but couldn't free her position. Allen's Reti involved deliberately ceding central space to his opponent who exploited it well. Karen missed a great chance to win a pawn up rook and pawn ending, but allowed her opponent too much activity and it turned into one of those rook endings where activity beats material.
