Southland Secondary Schools Regional Interschools
Southland Secondary Schools Regional Interschool Chess Championships
Organised by Invercargill-Southland Chess Club and chessventures
We invite your school to enter a team to compete in this official New Zealand Chess Federation national championship regional qualifier
The winning team will qualify to represent Southland at the National Interschools Teams Finals on September 28 & 29 in Wellington.
Teams are open to students in Years 9 through 13 – a team is four players plus one optional reserve – we recommend you have at least one non-playing reserve prepared to play in case a team member is unable to play on the day.
Teams need to play in order of playing strength – ie. Board 1 should be your strongest player, Board 4 and the optional reserve should be your weaker players.
Players need to be familiar with all rules and use of chess clocks.
If your school wants to enter a second team you need pre-arrange this with us well before the event. Permission to enter a second team will be at our discretion if there is space available.
