Rating News 2024 Period 1

Twelve standard rated tournaments have been processed involving 339 players and 1753 games. The open tournaments are the New Zealand Championship, New Zealand Major Open, New Zealand Junior Open, Auckland Anniversary and Waitangi. The club tournaments are Auckland Summer and March, North Shore Summer, Waitakere Summer, Papatoetoe Summer, Mount Maunganui First and Wellington Summer.

Twenty-four rapid rated tournaments have been processed involving 511 players and 2396 games. The open tournaments are New Zealand Championship, Latvian (A – D), Summit February and March (U1800, U1000), Manurewa Takaanini Junior, Bay of Plenty (A, B), Hawkes Bay Open (A, B, Junior) and Otago Autumn. The club tournaments are Summit Summer, Mount Maunganui February and March Invitational, Kapiti Leo Eichholtz, Canterbury Summer, February and March Junior and Otago’s Allan Chang Memorial.

Top Fifty: The top three standard rated players are unchanged with Alphaeus Ang on 2470 ahead of Alexei Kulashko 2456 and Ben Hague 2450. New Zealand Champion Nic Croad moves up to fourth with 2405. On the rapid rating list, the top 6 players are unchanged. Alpaheus Ang is top on 2430 followed by Ben Hague 2406 and Anthony Ker 2372. New Zealand Rapid Champion Russell Dive is fourth on 2346.
