NZCF Congratulates Luna Lu
NZCF congratulates Luna Lu, winner of the Asian Youth Girls Under 10 Rapid Championship for 2023. The event crosstable is available here.
Update 22/12/23:
Luna Lu has just won the silver medal after winning her round 9 & final game in the under 10 Girl’s Asian Championships in the UAE.
This follows on from her gold medal in the Rapid section.
Luna won her last 5 games after suffering earlier losses in rounds 3 & 4 to come back strongly, also defeating the eventual winner Kristina Zavivaeva of Russia who finished on 8/9 one point ahead of Luna who finished on 7/9.
This is one of the best results in individual age competitions at this level for NZ I believe. There were 53 competitors in Luna’s division.
You may also recall that Luna won a gold medal ( along with her namesake Luna Xu ) earlier in the year at the Oceania Youth Championships in Canberra.
NZL team consisted of
Zara Baraa U16
Rehansi D P Sayuni Vonara G12
Lu Xiahan (Luna) G10
