For those playing at Congress in Palmerston North – good luck! 2023 has been an excellent year for NZ chess with resumption of all tournaments after ending of Covid restrictions. Many Clubs have increased membership, and we have record numbers of players with NZCF ratings and rated games! Commonwealth Chess Championships 2023-24

Update: Applications have closed, and selections made as follows: Congratulations to the players and best wishes in the event! Players are invited to apply for selection to the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2023-24 in Melaka, Malaysia from 19-28 February 2024. These events have official places for NZ players (i.e. registered with FIDE as NZL) which means cheaper registration fees and free shared accommodation for the player (but not accompanying persons/parents). If selected, NZCF will offer to register you/your child as an official

The NZCF website has undergone a facelift. We ask that you bear with us as we migrate old content to the new site while keeping the new site up to date.
