West Auckland Secondary Interschool Championships

Organised by Bob and Viv Smith on behalf of the Waitakere Chess Club.
Venue: Kelston Boys High School, Auckland.
20 students from 3 schools competed in the West Auckland Secondary Chess Championship at Kelston Boys High School. Participation was down this year due to Covid and other factors. The 4 teams played a double round-robin. The Medal Winners were:
1st Avondale College (Rohit Mudaliar, Aanand Madav, Baraa Zara, Abraham Deng, Justin Yang)
2nd Green Bay High (Harry Cronin, Daniel Geronimo, Breno Miranda, Roman Wilcox, Maalav Garg)
3rd Kelston Boys’ High (Jay Kaufusi, Cikky Wang, Mark Siliko, Cyclone Tamarua, Chris Maka)
Certificates for best board players went to:

31 teams from 13 schools competed in the West Auckland Primary Chess Championship held Tuesday, 21 June 2022 at St Paul's School, Massey. The Medal Winners were:
1st Arahoe A (Justin Wang, Jerome Tao, Darren So, Carol Wang)
2nd ACG Sunderland A (Richard Liu, Zack Wang, Yuli Tang, Knox Xu )
3rd ACG Sunderland B (Amy Deng, Pradyun Bulusu, Evelyn Law, Samuel Qiao)

Board 1: Max Xia (Western Heights A) and Justin Wang (Arahoe A) received a certificate for 6/6

The South Intermediate Interschools Chess Competition for 2022 was attended by 8 teams representing 2 schools at Papatoetoe High School, who were the hosts. Attending were Greenmeadows and Pukekohe Christian. The final placings:

The South Secondary Interschools Chess Competition for 2022 was attended by 20 teams representing 4 schools at Papatoetoe High School, who were the hosts. Attending were Kings College, One Tree Hill College, Papatoetoe High, and Pukekohe Christian.

Silver: Kings College A
Bronze: Pukekohe Christian A.
Because 20 teams entered, both One Tree Hill College and Kings College have qualified as finalists.

The South Auckland Primary Interschools Chess Competition for 2022 was attended by 15 teams representing 7 schools at Everglade Primary. Attending were Everglade, Flat Bush, Holy Cross Catholic, Papatoetoe Central, Puhinui, Pukekohe Christian, and Strathallan.
