Peter Stuart Memorial Open 2026
Tournament Format
There are 2 six-round Swisses. The Open (A-grade) is
restricted to players FIDE-rated 1600 or higher (players
rated below 1600, particularly juniors, may be accepted,
on application), and the Reserve to players FIDE-rated
under 1700. The time control is 90 minutes for the
game with 30 seconds increment from move one.

Rating
Both events will be NZCF- and FIDE-rated where
possible. Non-NZL players must provide FIDE ID
before the tournament begins.
Half-point Byes
A player may take a half-point bye in any one of the
first five rounds. Notice should be given before the start
of the tournament and may be given on the entry form.

The prizegiving will take place as soon as possible after
the conclusion of the last round.

Entries
For entries (including entry fee) received before 27th
June the entry fees are:
Open $100 Reserve $80
Late entries (received on or after 27th June) incur a $20
surcharge and may be accepted until midnight, Wednesday
8th July. No entries on the day of the event.
The organisers reserve the right to refuse entries.
NZL players must be Individual Members of NZCF
before the start of the event. This requirement does not
apply to non-resident foreign visitors.
Prize Fund
The guaranteed prize fund is $6,670. This may be
increased if entries are much higher than anticipated.

Fourth $500 $180
Grade prizes $500 $300
100% bonus for 6/6 $200 $150
Upset prizes will be distributed each round (total $240).
Players may win Upset and 100% prizes in addition to
one major prize. Grade prize structure will be determined
after the start. There may also be book prizes.
Treating the venue with respect
In addition to the ballroom, we have access to the large
restaurant on the same floor. Food and drink (with the
exception of water bottles) may not be brought into the
hotel. Strictly no running around or visiting other
floors. Offenders will be removed from the pairings.
