New Zealand Women’s Chess Championships 2024

Saturday 9 November – Monday 11 November 2024

Format:

NZCF and FIDE-rated 6 round Swiss, paired with Vega.

Time Control:

90 minutes for the game plus 30 seconds per move (90m+30s) added from move 1.

Auckland Chinese Presbyterian Church, Level 1/25 Union Street, Auckland CBD, Auckland 1010

Rating:

The tournament will be NZCF-rated and FIDE-rated. For the purposes of pairings and grade prizes, NZCF standard ratings will be used. Where players do not have a published NZCF or FIDE standard rating, the Chief Arbiter may assign a rating at their discretion.

Prizes:

Total prize fund of $1,550 is guaranteed.

• Championship – 1^st $500, 2^nd $300, 3^rd $250
• Reserve – 1^st $250, 2^nd $150, 3^rd $100
• Book Prizes may be awarded, eg for a best game or to the youngest player

Note: Players may only win one cash prize – prizes will be shared between eligible players on the same score. The prize fund will be increased if entries allow.

Playing Schedule:

Note: Players who have not checked in by 8:30 am may not be paired for round one. Players should check in by arriving at the venue before 8:30 am where possible or by sending a text message to the organizer by 8:30 am (mobile number above). Entries close at 8:15 am or when the venue capacity has been reached.

Half-point Byes:

• Players may take a half-point bye in any of the first four rounds (max 1 per player) – please advise by emailing stuartvogel8@gmail.com after entering.

Entry Details:

• The entry fee is $70* for the Championship and $50 for the Reserves.
• Please note that NZ players who participate in two or more NZCF-rated tournaments in a year are required to be a member of an NZCF Affiliate or Associate Chess Club. See www.newzealandchess.co.nz for further details on how to join a chess club.
• Foreign players must have a FIDE ID prior to entering. NZ players without a FIDE ID will be assigned one by FIDE (date of birth required).
