NZCF Interschools 2024 Results
Tournament report by Gordon Lyall
Wellington College justified their top seeding when they edged out Takapuna Grammar School to become this years national school champions. The key match up came in round 5, with both teams on maximum points, Wellington College prevailed with a solid 3-1 win. This was the only loss for Takapuna, who took Silver ahead of Auckland Grammar who needed a tie break to separate them from Avondale College.
In the Intermediate Division, the tournament favourites Northcross Intermediate won in fine style with a perfect, 7 wins from 7 games. ACG Sunderland performed admirably to secure second place losing only one match in the process. Somerville Intermediate School took out the bronze.
The Primary section was dominated by Willow Park, who only lost 2 games across all boards over the 7 rounds. Kristin School came second dropping only one match to the winners, and Scott Point outperformed some higher rated teams to clinch the bronze position.
