2026 World Schools Team Championship

The New Zealand Chess Federation is proud to announce that ACG Sunderland has been officially selected to represent New Zealand at the 2026 World Schools Team Championship’s Asian Continental Championships, which will take place in Almaty, Kazakhstan from 6–11 April 2026.

Last year the championships had a large finals stage only, this was held in the USA and Wellington College represented NZL with pride and achived a great result.

This year’s event sees contintental qualifiers, followed by a 4 team grand final in December.

It is also restricted to under 14’s this year and ACG, as the Intermediate School Champions at last years Interschool FInals in Christchurch, will be representing NZL this time around.
