2026 Oceania Youth Chess Championships underway in Christchurch

223 junior players from 5 federations (New Zealand, Australia, Tonga, Vanuatu and New Caledonia) across Oceania have gathered in Christchurch for the Oceania Youth Chess Championships.

  • Girls Under 8 – Under 20 : 40 players
  • Open Under 8 – Under 10 : 20 Players
  • Open Under 12 – Under 20 : 163 Players
  • Chief Organiser – AO/IA Craig Hall (NZL)
  • Chief Arbiter – IA Bob Gibbons (NZL)

The event is being hosted by the Canterbury Chess Club under the auspices of the New Zealand Chess Federation, the Oceania Chess Confederation and FIDE and is supported by the FIDE Development Fund.
