2026 Commonwealth Chess Championships – Sri Lanka – Selection for NZL places open
Commonwealth Chess Championship 2026
The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka on behalf of FIDE and The Commonwealth Chess Association cordially invite your Federation to participate in the Commonwealth Championship 2026 to be held from 16th to 26th May 2026 at Kaluthara, Sri Lanka.

Each Commonwealth country is eligible to field one man, one woman, One Senior (Above-50), one Junior Girl (Under-20), one Junior Open (Under-20) player and one Open and girl each in under-8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 as official entrants. Their boarding and lodging will be provided free in Official hotel.
NZL therefore is entitled to 17 official places – see the bolded italic section above for info. These players will receive free board and lodging. They will still be responsible for their airfares, other travel costs, registration and entry fees.
Other NZL players (ie. not the officially selected player) can still enter, but will have to pay all their costs.
To apply for an official spot, please complete this form FORM and submit it to the NZCF by the end of Sunday the 8th of February 2026.
Successful candidates may be asked to supply additional information in order to register them officially.
