Appointment of Head of Delegation for 2026 Olympiad

On behalf of the NZCF Council, I am delighted to announce that Paul McAvoy has been appointed as Head of Delegation for the 2026 Olympiad in Uzbekistan.

Paul has been involved in national and international chess administration and coaching for over 30 years, was awarded the FIDE Instructor title in 2010, and has coordinated coaching and logistics for groups of up to 50 for Youth Olympiads and World Youth Championships. He is also a teacher and deputy principal with significant experience in school trips and tours, including overseas, and all the logistics involved.
