Scheduled for 16th August at Northcote Citizens Centre, cnr College Rd/Ernie Mays St, Northcote. This event is open to Secondary and Composite schools with years 9-13 pupils. Years 7-8 pupils can also play. The winning team will gain the right to represent the North Shore region in the national competition to be held over the weekend 30 September-1 October in Christchurch. Each school may enter multiple teams. Should there be 25 or more teams then a second team also qualifies for the national finals this is a change from previous years.
Once again the North Shore Chess Club is organising the annual North
Shore Inter-school Teams Chess competition and we invite your school to enter
teams in the event. This event qualifies the Primary and Intermediate winners
for the New Zealand Interschool finals in September.
There are actually two separate competitions: one for primary schools (Tuesday, 8th August) and the other for intermediate schools (Wednesday, 9th August). In the case of Full Primary schools only year 1-6 pupils are eligible for the primary competition, while year 7-8 pupils are eligible for the intermediate competition. The entry forms, links below, give you the necessary information for the competition relevant to your school.
The entry forms contain more detailed information regarding these events and should be read carefully before entering.
Wairau Intermediate is again acting as host for our competition and we thank them for making their facilities available for the event. Their canteen will be open to players and we will circulate a menu after the deadline for entries. We are sure you will find the playing conditions most agreeable and we look forward to your schools participation with one or more teams.
